One of my daughter’s friends was having a “beach party” for everyone in her English class. So I decided to take the day off and enjoy the party too. Along the shores of the Spessard Holland Beach (North) I ended up teaming with fellow sculptors, Ryan Earnhardt and Ryan Buck. Together we first built a 6 foot tower that rapidly cracked and  crumbled once the top two forms were removed. I theorize that the sand at this particular beach is too round, causing the grains to move around on you… especially when there’s some height involved. No fun.

So what do you do then?

Why, take what’s left over and start making something of it.

Each side ended up with it’s own unique personality.

Since Easter is this Sunday,  I carved a

THE TOMB
EMPTY!

On the side of the sculpture. (I could have gone with the more popular “He Is Risen!”, but I didn’t think of it at the time.) Either way, it’s sure a wonderful reminder that death has been conquered. Yeah!
