One of the fringe benefits of building
sandcastles is the incredible amount
of
exposure that it brings to the places
I build at. |

My drawing talents have been showcased over on Carrie Stuart-Park's web site. I
may have gotten my start in sand, but drawing now ranks way up there in the
awesome satisfaction department. Thanks, Carrie, for the encouragement that you
are to me.

The Wedding Castle
of David and Betsy was featured in the August 9th edition of The Longboat
Observer. Special thanks to the Shaw family and staff of The Longboat
Observer for sending me a copies of
the publication. It's always great to have newspapers that I
can send to my mom in San Diego! :)

It was very apparent that folks read the newspaper while at the Dolphin Beach Club in Daytona Beach where
one article brought the beach vendors scrambling! I'd been
building sculptures all week, but it
wasn't until the article appeared in the Daytona Beach News Journal that
the beach became very crowded as everyone wanted to be close to where I was
working... only one bit of trouble -- the article came out on the day that I
left. ;) Well, at least the Dolphin Beach Club ended up with
some great press!

Ron Masters of Palm Bay works with care and finesse on a very detailed
sand sculpture -- in this case, it's the battleship USS Arizona,
memorialized at Pearl Harbor and now this week on Volusia County's beach.
Masters and his brother in law, Ty Adkins, said they made several detailed
sand sculptures during their stay this week at the Dolphin Beach resort in
Daytona Beach Shores. Masters said he photographs the completed sculptures
and puts them on his Web site, Sandcastling.com. |

In addition to Fox and ABC TV coverage, there was this from the
front cover of the Tampa Tribune "Florida Metro" Section.

The caption under
the article reads:
"Ron Masters jumps back from building "September Sky" when
the real thing - lightning - startles him during the 21st annual Dolphins
to Dragons Sand Castle Creations. The competition was held on the beach
behind the Don CeSar Beach Resort and Spa in St. Pete Beach on Saturday.
Although a couple of creations remained unfinished by the time the rain
came, most were completed, a resort spokeswoman said."
