November 17th, 2000 - Parent Leadership DayEvery year Covenant Christian School has a Parent Leadership Day, where the teachers step back and let the parents run the show. Students were allowed to choose from several arts themes -- and I got the blessing of having twenty apprentice students and parents choose my class -- The Art of Sandcastling.
A 3-ton pile of mason sand had been delivered to the school for the purpose of "building sandcastles". Unfortunately, I learned that 3 tons is not exactly as much sand as I thought it would be. So, a plan B was quickly arranged our school bus was loaded up, and we headed to Veteran's Park. The park sported a nice pond with some nice white sand... lots more than 3 tons!
